Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) used a hearing on Tuesday to hammer potential GOP presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) over controversial statements he made about vaccines.
Polio and measles vaccines “work so well that the memory of these diseases has faded, and the importance of vaccination has become less obvious,” Warren said during the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee hearing.
The Massachusetts senator then questioned Anne Schuchat, the CDC’s director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, about the alleged dangers of vaccinations, which have been promoted by the so-called anti-vaxxer movement.
“Is there any scientific evidence that vaccines cause autism?” she asked
