Thanks. My opinion on Zika has changed. The key idea was transmission across the placental barrier. Zika passes through the placenta. Zika may be mild for the mother but for the fetus it is a serious infection – fetal encaphalitis?
Prof Scott Weaver (Director Institute for Human Infections and Immunity and) and Prof Nikos Vasilakis (Centre for Biodefence and Emerging Infectious Disease) are colleagues.
Weaver has spent over 10years on viruses, in particular horse and insect borne viruses.His interview with the BBC led me to conclude one of two things: Weaver and Vasilakis are outright liars or they know there is a link because they have worked with these type of viruses and the virus carrying vector – Aedes Egypti!
That is why they can reject without any concern for professional or intellectual ineptitude other possible causes.
The location information concerning the epicenter supports this scenario. Another key piece was actual testimony of patients and their docter.

The involvement of Dr Weaver and his Galveston colleagues will be kept in mind and followed up however thanks to Jon R. for showing we have thousands more cases of microcephaly in the US.
25K microcephaly cases in the US, why? Brazil has less than 300 confirmed cases out of the dubious 4000 claimed cases.
