Independent: Ebola nurse’s rapid decline leaves experts staggered

Experts are expressing astonishment at the deterioration of Pauline Cafferkey’s  condition, says the Independent.

Jonathan Ball, professor of molecular virology at the University of Nottingham, said there is nothing in scientific literature to explain her alleged current condition.

There have been thousands of cases of Ebola in the past year, but no case has been reported of anyone contracting Ebola a second time, and certainly not after so many months.

What other explanations could account for this aberrance? Bioterrorism is a plausible explanation.

Australian Infectious diseases epidemiologist Professor Raina MacIntyre from The School of Public Health And Community Medicine at UNSW, analysed the epidemiologic features of MERS-Cov and concluded bioterrorism was the most likely explanation. The same is true for the Ebola outbreak.
